Unless its being worn, store flat and out of direct sunlight. Copper darkens over time and looks better and better. It is possible to reshine. Have reasonable expectations when it comes to jewelry life depending on how often and hard its worn. In most cases if jewelry breaks, not due to user error, i will fix for free (you pay shipping) or teach you how to do it yourself.
